What Is It You Want?
I coached competitive tennis for over 25 years. To help my players learn to win I would tell them to develop a clear conception of what they want. Have an idea of where you want to go with your tennis, what you want to accomplish. I would have them create a mental movie of what they wanted to become. I told them it had to be very clear and very specific. Vague, nebulous goals can not motivate winning behavior. Vague, half-assed goals can only generate vague emotions.
It is my belief that the reason so many of my tennis players became champions was because they learned that warm, positive thoughts and positive thinking alone never got them anywhere.
Rather, shaping specific goals through vivid imagery was the ticket for success for so many of my students in the competitive world of junior district, sectional, national, international, and professional competition.
I am convinced that the laws of reciprocity hold between the world of competitive athletics and REAL ESTATE. Our clients are assisted in creating a clear conception of what they want. We try to help you identify your specific goals by asking the right questions.
And maybe you'll improve your backhand, in the process
If you are moving in a general direction you feel good about, are you making the sort of progress you think is appropriate? And where do you want to end up?
Lily Tomlin once knew that the power of positive thinking, with all the warm fuzzies, alone would never get her what she wanted:
"I always wanted to be somebody. I should have been more specific."
So, why not do what my players did -- dig deep into yourself to find the resources to define a conception of what you really want. Paint a vivid picture with lots of specific goals. I promise, you'll win -- no matter how tough the competition (or the market)!
