The Hartman Home Team knows you are about to embark on a whole new adventure! Our area is a wonderful place to live and has so much to offer young people. We know you will adjust very easily, make new friends quickly and find places of interest. We want you to be happy in your new home in your new neighborhood. Here are a few things you can do during the moving process to hep make things easier on you and your family.

 

  • Before you say good-bye, get the addresses (snail mail and e-mail) and phone numbers of all your special friends so you can write and call them.
  • Make a memory box! Collect photos, mementos and souvenirs from the community you will be leaving and store them in your special box for safekeeping. You will love having these when you get older too.
  • Help your family pack, if needed, and ask if youcan pack your belongings so everything will be just right after you get to your new destination.
  • Make an effort to get along with everone as moving can be very stressful for the whole family.
  • Remember to give your pets some extra special care. Moving is difficult for them too.
  • Make sure you have all your school records with you.
  • If you are working a part-time job, ask your boss for a letter of recommendation before you leave so when you apply for a new job, you will have a reference.
  • Check with your parents to see if you have all your medical and dental records.
  • Check with your new school to see if there is a buddy system in place! You want to be able to make friends right away.
  • Check out the church you may be attending for their youth activities.
  • Pack a small bag for your trip to our area. Don't forget your bathing suit for a refreshing dip along the way or as soon as you arrive. Remember to use a good sun screen in the summer.  The summer sun can be brutal and you don't want skin damage. Put in a couple of good paperbacks, your ipod, and remember to pack your sense of humor!
  • Put together a sports resume  if you plan on joining a select or special sports team.
  • Put on a happy face and have a positive attitude! The rewards will be awesome!
